This time of year is really no harder to catch the Crp than it is at any other time. Location is still the most important part of success, and fishing the shallower areas of the lake is the best place to start as that is where the water will warm up quicker during the day. No need to scale down on tackle IMHO & if the water is really clear, using fluorocarbon leaders & hooklinks will help to camoflage the end tackle. Light indicators though are essential as the fish don't move as much during the cold weather so early indication of a pick up is vital. Even using a Solar LineBiter indictor (like a floating backlead) will give you indication of a pick up before the alarm and a standard bobbin will.
As for baiting, I will generally just use boilies as loose offerings but chopped and glugged, and even resort to small pva bags of liquid flavour only (size of 50p pieces).
Try to also fish away from where the leaves fall and sink to the bottom as these areas the fish tend to stay clear of as a rule.
