Series: Best Of Carp TV
'Essex boy' Dave Levy has built up a reputation as one of the top thinking carp anglers in the country, and this is an insight into the fishing mind of a man who had banked no less than eight English 40lb-plus carp at the time of filming.
With Nigel Botherway doing a great job of drawing the information out, we find out about some of these captures, which include a 44lb 9oz common, and among many tips Dave explains why he prefers braid over mono mainline, and discusses the key differences between a 'normal' carp rig and one he'd use specifically for targeting very big fish.
Dave's on Berkshire's Blue Pool for the first part, getting results on small pop-up boilies and whittled down baits, including catching a lovely, dark, chunky, double figure mirror carp for the cameras as he shows how to extract a big carp from a tight swim.
Then the boys move to The Dell at Rainham, a more open, windswept venue. Despite having an easterly wind to tackle (as any angler will tell you, not the best wind for fishing) Dave manages to trip up a superb looking 30lb-plus mirror carp for us, and then shows how to tie up the 'Blowback' rig he used to fool the specimen, step by step.
There are also tips on buying a carp chair under £60 in this show, which closes with a fascinating look behind the scenes at Sky TV's 'Tight Lines', angling's only live TV show, which was first broadcast in August 1995 and is still going strong.
Carp TV arrives at the studios in time for a show featuring one of the biggest names there is in carp fishing, Terry Hearn.
Nigel talks to Keith about the show and how working in a tackle shop gave him such a good platform to launch into a career as one of angling's top TV presenters , and to Terry about what it's like being a guest on Keith's show and fielding calls from the public, which might well be wind-ups from mates! It's a 'must-view'.
